Physical Education

All teachers are encouraged to participate in daily fitness on a regular basis with their class. Throughout the year students are involved in a number of team-based activities.

Year 6 students participate in an interschool Summer Carnival in Term 1. This includes games of tee ball, cricket and volleyball with neighbouring schools.

They also attend a Winter Carnival in Term 2 and participate in soccer, football and netball.

The Faction Cross Country Carnival is an annual event for students in Year’s 4 to 6. Students run or walk a course around the school and earn points for their faction. Selected students then compete in an Interschool Cross Country Carnival, usually around Coker Park in Cannington.

During Term 3, all students participate in a Faction Athletics Carnival. Events include individual running events; 50 metres, 80 metres, 100 metres and 200 metres. Team sports are also included. Some include tunnel ball, leader ball and pass ball. The program also includes tabloid events such as tunnel crawl, hoop hopscotch, skipping relays, sack relays, soccer goal shoot and bean bags in crates.

The school is fortunate to have a large oval for outdoor activities and an undercover area for wet weather.

Swimming lessons are held annually for all students (Pre-Primary to Year 6) and are conducted at the Cannington Leisureplex.
